Welcome from the Director of Religious Education

Lynn Sabourin, Director of Religious Education

Welcome to the Children’s Program at North Shore Unitarian Church!

Here we play, sing, create and worship together.
Here we welcome children of all abilities to enter into a religious community where everyone is encouraged to be a life-long learner.
Here we know that all are valued for the unique gifts they bring into the world.

We offer programs for children 3-12 years of age guided by adults who are truly interested in the spiritual lives of children and who want to encourage their natural curiousity and desire to make sense of their world.  We encourage questioning, knowing that the questions are as important as the answers.  Through story, discussion, role-plays, arts and crafts, cooperative games, activities and music we encourage children to explore the wide diversity of beliefs and customs in the world as well as our Unitarian Universalist principles.
Children are invited to explore the big questions in life- where did we come from?  What do happens when we die?  Why do bad things happen to good people?

For our infants and toddlers under 3years we have childcare provided by two young women who, with their Red Cross training in hand, provide a consistent and loving presence that our young ones can count on each week.

We have sleepovers, seasonal potlucks, Christmas pageants, intergenerational worship, after service soup lunches, talent shows and other opportunities to be together in community, as our children come from all across the North Shore and beyond.

I hope you will take a few minutes to peruse our Children’s Program booklet which describes in more detail the goals of our program and descriptions of the classes offered at each age level.

Cara Elrod, our Religious Education Assistant, our volunteer teachers and classroom assistants and I welcome you and your children to visit us on Sunday mornings.  You will be warmly welcomed and may find a community that fits your family.
